Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions

"What's the difference between a Guest Writer and a Contributing Writer?"
A Guest Writer can only make contributions to the SSG Team Blog, pending approval.  A Contributing Writer can do the same, plus, they can have their own profile, bio, services and personal blog listed at SSG.  Both writer types have access to the SSG Community Forum.

"How often am I required to make submissions as a Contributing Writer?"
SSG asks that Contributing Writers make at least 1 to 3 submissions per month to the SSG Team Blog to be considered an "active" Contributing Writer.  These posts can be either independent original articles or recopied articles from your personal blogs featured at SSG.  If you are unable or unwilling to meet this requirement for any reason, then you are welcome to request that your status be changed from 'Contributing Writer' to 'Guest Writer.'  Or you may withdraw from the website.  Just send us an email at asksoulsolutions@hotmail.com.

"How long or detailed does my personal profile bio have to be?"

It can be as brief or as detailed as you desire. Let it work for you.

"What's the difference between my personal profile blog and the SSG Team Blog?"
Your personal profile blog is a blog that only you write and promote.  The SSG Team Blog is your blog that you submit to this website to be posted and available for reading by large audiences.

"How do I make a post to the SSG Team Blog?"
We want you to post to the SSG Team blog any writings from your blog that you want to share with larger audiences.  The "How-To" is listed on the SSG Team Blog page.

"Does my submission to the SSG team blog need to be on my personal blog?"
No, but we prefer it to be so that readers can easily identify your work if they visit your profile and see your written piece on your personal blog as well.

"Will people know how to find me if they see my writing in the SSG Team Blog?"
Yes.  The SSG Team Blog will permanently link your name to your Contributing Writer (CW) profile at SSG.  This means big exposure for your work and whatever you have featured on your profile, such as services offered.

"How often do I need to make posts to my personal blog?"
The number of personal blog entries is up to you.  Since we encourage submissions from personal blogs to the SSG Team Blog, you would want to have at least 1 to 3 personal blog entries per month.

"What about copyrights?" "Do I need to copyright my work?"
Your written works are automatically protected by Federal copyright law when you write them.  For our purposes, we would prefer that you simply put your full name or a byline at the end of each article you submit, a copyright date, and possibly a link to your CW profile.  We expect to have many submissions from each author over time, so keeping the footer to your posts as simplified as possible will make it easier to streamline the process.

"Can I promote my article that is posted on the SSG Team Blog?"
You betcha!  You can promote as many posts as you want.  Please use the widgets on the Spread the Word page to share online with your friends, on your website, at your Myspace profile, in your groups, in bulletins, in emails to others, etc.  The great thing is, if you post a widget with the "Include a "Grab this" link" checkbox activated, then other people who see your widget can duplicate it and spread the word themselves!

"If I subscribe to the SSG Team Blog, does that mean I'm an SSG Team Blog writer?"
No, it means that you are subscribing to receive the SSG Team Blog as new entries are posted.  As a Contributing Writer, you are automatically eligible to submit your entries to the SSG Team Blog.

"Once I post a blog, can I go back and change it?"
If it's your personal blog, you can sign into your blog and edit your posts at any time.  If it's the SSG Team Blog, you will need to ask Todd to make any edits to your entries.

"Is there a way that I can tell how many people have viewed my blog?"
Yes, by creating your own counter.  SSG recommends using amazingcounters.com to create your own counter button for your personal blog.  In your blog dashboard (home page), you will add this HTML under "Layout" and then "Add a page element."

"Can someone respond privately to a blog I've made?"
Yes.  If you have made a post to your personal blog, you can add information to your blogger.com profile, such as your email address, or links to your personal profile at the SSG website.  Contributing Writers have links at the SSG Team Blog directing readers to your personal profile.  There is also a designated message board for discussing submitted materials at the SSG Community Forum.  We encourage Contributing Writers to participate in the forum and specifically, the "Team Blogs & Newsletter" board.

"Do Contributing Writers' posts to their personal blog get automatically posted to the SSG Team Blog?"
No. But you can submit any of your personal blog entries to the SSG Team Blog by following the instructions on this page (scroll down): Make a submission to the SSG Team Blog.
