Each book in this list has been deemed valuable enough at some point in my life to arrive in this list of favorites, so the mere presence of each book title is an honor.  Each book is "rated" according to how much I resonated with it, was positively impacted by it, or found it helpful.  So with deep respect to all of the mentioned authors, I humbly introduce the "1 to 4 Smiley's System," with four Smiley's awarded being the most impactful experience for that time.  Although I have changed in resonance with some of the books over time, the ratings will be based on how impactful they were during the time that I read them.

(In random order...)

Esther and Jerry Hicks: Ask and It Is Given
Todd: This channeled work, in my opinion, presents some of the simplest yet most profound spiritual messages that teach us to create our reality and ourselves.  The book is very thorough and comprehensive while being extremely easy to read also.  The presentation of this book is gentle and profound beyond words, introducing divine technology for living like it has never been approached before.  This is THE perfect book to read if you have watched the documentary film "The Secret" and you desire to become more serious about creating your life as you would ideally like it to be.  More and more people are waking up to empowerment, and this book facilitates that in a simple way, while embedding some of the most advanced contemporary spiritual information on energetics and the Law of Attraction.

Sanaya Roman: Personal Power Through Awareness, Spiritual Growth, Living with Joy.
Todd: Sanaya channels Orin and DaBen, and her books have been most helpful during the Harmonic Convergence of 1987, but the information remains timeless.  These books are great beginner books for spiritual living.  A person can be oblivious to metaphysics and gain all of the empowerment needed to make a solid start, create healing, or refer back to them occasionally. I've recommended these three books more than any others and have received the best feedback on them, mostly because they apply to everyone.  Although these books do not address issues of "abuse," it is my opinion as a channeler (not a therapist) that these are healing books for those who have experienced any kind of abuse in past relationships of any kind.  Even though my interests have changed over the years, I still refer back to Sanaya's books.  I've kept several on hand in years past for others to borrow.

Don Miguel Ruiz: Mastery of Love
Todd: Very simple and elegant wisdom from a Native American man. I relate well to him. Talks about how our awareness denotes our ability to love, and that if we want to love better, we need to learn how to dismantle what we have been taught about love and pain. Similar to Sanaya Roman's books, but Sanaya's are some of the best, in my opinion, for folks opening up to spirituality.

 A Course in Miracles (A.C.I.M.)
Todd:  This book is a channeled "Foundation for Inner Peace" which is over one thousand pages long, and could be considered a "one-stop shop" for spiritual consciousness growth (workbook and teacher manual included).  This book tends to benefit most when a person is already willing to see the value in abandoning old belief systems or ways of thinking.  Like the experience of many others, this book did not come into my life until several years of spiritually focused living.  In my opinion, this book is for people who are serious about spiritual consciousness growth.  There is absolutely NO "woo-woo" in this book (aka: ego appeal, distraction, eye candy).  It is 100% pure, grade A, ungranulated spiritual consciousness growth.

 John Eldredge: Wild at Heart
Todd: Christian perspective on the transition into manhood. He speaks about how men aren't always given approval and validation into manhood (also for women), and that there is a need to regain that sense of belief and knowing in our inherent masculine nature to be men of integrity, using God to help us achieve that.  Highly prized by many Christian men I've met.

Doreen Virtue: Messages From Your Angels
Todd: Awesome book on how to recognize and gain skill communicating with spirit guides and angels, who to call on for what purpose, etc.

 Jerry Spinelli: Stargirl
Todd: Totally awesome and heart-warming novel set in a high school scenario about a girl who is different from her classmates in a very open and loving way (an Indigo child), and her trials are described from the perspective of a boy who falls for her. I was very impressed with this book. Anyone can enjoy this. It dares us to be THAT open and loving with others. Reads fast.

Paulo Coelho: Veronica Decides to Die, The Alchemist
Todd: Paulo is a great novelist. I loved Veronica so much! Great story on what life can teach us when death is in view - appreciation. The Alchemist is a critically acclaimed novel. I wouldn't miss either of these. They read fast.

 James Redfield: The Celestine Prophecy
Todd: One of the grandfather novels of metaphysics. This book was one of the first spiritual-metaphysical books I ever read. And I find that I usually have this book in common with people I've just met. "Why are these coincidences happening? What do they mean?" This book answers some of those questions with a fun quest about the meaning for life as it relates to our ancestors who left us hidden clues. One of the most exciting fictional adventures I've taken with a book. A great book to point out to someone who's curious about synchronicity.  A must read!

Joseph Murphy: The Power of Your Subconscious Mind, and many others.
Todd: Probably the most impactful author for me growing into my twenties. Without question, one of the single greatest influences for spiritual psychology today.  My hunch is that most contemporary spiritual authors began their journeys by reading Joseph Murphy many years ago.  To understand how our mind works allows us to understand its influence in our lives, and whether we control it or it controls us. Talks a lot about God (Divine, Universal Mind, whatever you want to call it) and how to learn to call upon the power of God within us to deal with any aspect of our lives. Books from Murphy have probably been the most transformative books for me, aside from Sanaya's books starting out. If someone was serious about learning about God within us and around us, and how He practically applies to everyday life, I would recommend this first. As with Charles Capps, Murphys books are heavily scripture based, which is very powerful. The most powerful affirmations and transformative prayers I have known in my life and built into me have come from Joseph Murphy. I've dismantled every fear that I've wanted to via Joe Murphy.  Might be time for another cleaning!

Ken Keyes: The Handbook to Higher Consciousness
Todd:  Since we're mentioning grandfathers of metaphysics, it's best not to forget the man who was probably one of the very first publishers in the metaphysical field.  I feel as much respect for Ken Keyes as I do Joseph Murphy, and that is saying a lot because these guys were pioneers.  Ken is also heavily regarded as one of the greatest metaphysical influences to many of the esteemed metaphysical ministers and practitioners that we learn from today. Ask your minister!

Jim Marion: Putting on the Mind of Christ
Todd: I consider this an advanced book on consciousness growth based on traditional Christian perspectives from a "credible" source - the author. Very good resource for pursuers of consciousness growth who come from traditional perspectives. If you want conscious growth without much of the "New Age" flavor, this is a great book. We need more authors like Marion to write books for the world that continues to wake up.

 Positive Energy: Judith Orloff
Todd: When this book came out, I believe it was considered groundbreaking for its approach to life through an energetic psychotherapist's perspective. Very effective for empaths (people who can feel or take on others' energy). Explains the elusive hidden ingredients that each of us feel in social interactions. If you want to learn how to understand and read others' energies as well as your own (in the general sense) this is the first book to read on it.  A must read for emotionally sensitive people.

Charles Capps: The Tongue: A Creative Force
Todd: Great Christian based book on how we should not be haphazard with our words. Very powerful book on how awareness of what we say impacts our subconscious minds and our lives. One of the grandfather books to the now popularized "you create your reality" theme. I've read this many times for its value.

Neil Donald Walsh: Conversations with God, Books 1,2,3
Todd: Dialogue based books where the author literally talks with God (if you choose to believe it) about personal, social, and Universal issues. Very exploratory. Highly metaphysical. Requires a very open mind.

Terry Felber: "Am I making myself Clear?"
Todd: Good book on learning to be a great communicator and understanding how people communicate.  Shows us how good communcation habits affect every aspect of our lives for the better.
